Thirty One Days of Summer | Photo Challenge

Last summer, I participated in a fun photo project: the 100 Days of Summer challenge, in which I was supposed to take a photo a day for one hundred days in black and white. Things got busy for me towards the end of summer & I sadly did not prioritize it as I should have, but as I looked back to my photos at the end of the challenge, I loved having this photo journal of moments gone-by and the feeling of picking up my camera intentionally and having the freedom to think creatively. None of these photos are of me road tripping across the country or eating fancy foods, in fact, they aren't glamorous at all but it is these small moments, these apparently small blessings that will forever be in my mind.

I loved documenting summer this way, and so I wanted to share that starting on July 1st, I'll be taking on the Thirty-One Days of Summer challenge! I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and attempting to discipline myself to go out and be creative and shoot daily because the results are so worth it.

Will you join me in this adventure? No rules or guideline other than taking a picture daily for the entire month of July. I'll be posting my progress in this Flickr group & would love for you to join in!

A Zoo Day | Summer Adventures

Last week our good friends Aline + Josh came to spend a week with us, and boy...did we ever have a blast! Among our many adventures (which I will be posting soon...i hope ;) was a trip to the zoo! It has been several years since I last visited and seeing the amazing animals, their humid environments, and the tropical greenery was just incredible. I know that though I would like to see more of our Heavenly Father's creations, I could never get to explore all of it in this lifetime, and seeing a snippet of the animal kingdom left me marveling at the works of His Hands.

A Bountiful Spring Harvest

I almost made this a wordless post because the written portion of a post is the hardest thing for me to come up with! But though these pictures alone tell the story, the story of the year 2015 when we were abundantly blessed with much harvest from our gardens, I want to express my gratitude. My gratitude to my Heavenly Father for opening the window of His heavens + blessing our crops. For His giving growth to the seeds we planted & awaited eagerly until the day they would bloom forth from His Earth. For the lessons He taught us in patience & faith, trusting that though there were many pests & hungry birds there would be plenty to go around. He alone is the Source of our provision, blessed be His Name forever!

For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
Matthew 6:25-26

Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.
